Project Manager: 

Job Functions: 

  • The PM is responsible for all phases of the project lifecycle from initiation through the completion of the project. 
  • Works closely with the sponsor to identify and manage staffing requirements and funding availability.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the project deliverable are completed on time, within budget, and meet the quality criteria and requirements set forth by the business. 
  • Key liaison, acting as a bridge between the client, stakeholders and the solution team.

Project Management Institute Knowledge Areas:  Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Human Resources, Communications, Risk, Procurement, and Quality

Phases:  Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring/Controls, Closing

Technologies: .Net, Java, Web Dev Tools, SQL, ERP Systems etc… 

Project Tracking: PPM(Clarity, Primavera, Planview), Visio, MS Project

Presentation:  WebEx, PowerPoint, Excel, Access

Certifications that will help:

PMP (Project Management Professional),

Six Sigma

Infrastructure Certifications, Development Certifications are also acceptable

This person reports to: 

Program Manager, IT Managers, Business Managers (Project Stakeholders), PM’s usually work in a PMO (Project Management Office)
